Cheap Hostels in Santiago de Compostela

Spain’s holiest city, Santiago de Compostela, is the final destination of the pilgrimage walk, Camino de Santiago. Located in the northwest corner of Spain, in the region of Galicia, the city is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and boasts a beautiful historic center and a university founded in the 16th century. The main attraction is, however, the Cathedral and the end point for the popular Christian pilgrimage route.
Most people choose to stay in the the historical center of Santiago de Compostela, which centers on the Cathedral, a massive ground said to be the burial place of Saint James the Great, one of the 12 apostles. Tens of thousands of people come to the Cathedral each year to pay their respects, with a large fraction of them having made their way here by foot.
Within the labyrinth of narrow cobble paths, you’ll find a wide array of hostels in this area, a mix between budget backpackers and well-equipped guesthouses. Obviously, prices are cheaper outside of the historic center, but if location is extremely important to you, then you will have to pay for it.
