Getting from Barcelona to Mallorca (and return)

palma-de-mallorcaMallorca is the largest of the Balearic Islands and a lovely vacation destination for those looking to soak up the sun. It also offers lovely hiking and biking trails. If you don’t like the crazy party scene in Ibiza, then Mallorca is the best place to visit.
Many travelers prefer to mix visiting one of the large cities with spending some days on one of the islands. If you find yourself in Barcelona and plan to go to Mallorca, you have two choices: by plane or ferry.

By plane

Mallorca is served by the airport located in Palma de Mallorca. Mallorca is the gateway to the Balearics, so cheap flights to Mallorca are easy to find. The airport is mostly served by low cost carriers from other European cities but there are some flights from Barcelona as well. The flight takes about 50 min.
The carriers offering direct flights from Barcelona into Palma include: Ryanair, Air Europa, Iberia, Air Berlin and Clickair/Vueling Airlines. Here is a full list of budget airlines that fly to Mallorca.
