No Worries – Barcelona: Stay in a villa on the cheap

No Worries- Barcelona was established in 2007 in the small town of Montmelo, 20 minutes outside of Barcelona by train, and is already making a great impression. Run by Paul and Thijs from Holland, Greg from England and Pablo from Spain, everything you can hope or dream for is right in one spot.

The villa’s location, while initially you might frown at being just out of the city center, is perfect as it allows you to enjoy a more rural setting but still have easy access to Barcelona. The boys are always happy to pick you up or drop you off at the train station, but if all else fails it is a short walk back to the villa. It is also close to the beach, numerous wineries and great hiking and biking trails. The villa sports a swimming pool, with slide, tennis courts, BBQ area and even a bird aviary.

The main business of the villa is a 3-day, 2-night tour of Barcelona and surrounding areas, with all accommodation, food and drinks(this means alcohol too) included. Some of the highlights include hikes, mountain biking, a tour on a push scooter of Barcelona, a tour of the historical city of Girona, cooking lessons and a party every night in their very own bar!

Accommodations are dorm-style bunks, but there are private rooms with double beds available. Food is delicious and plentiful, from the full breakfasts to the mountain of paella and the continuous tapas throughout the day, no one can go hungry in this house. Drinks, alcoholic and non-alcoholic, are always available and most mornings start with a glass of sangria and end with vodka and coke (note: they free-pour in Spain).

The tour costs €195 and is perfect for a single traveler or a large group. Tours can be tailored to specific needs or requests, and in some cases tailoring will affect the total price. If you are only there for a few days and can’t join the whole tour, the boys will gladly take you along for some of the activities for only a small fee.

The best part of No Worries is that Paul, Thijs, Greg and Pablo make you feel part of the family and you will often stay a lot longer than planned, my trip went from 3 days to 7 and I wish I could have stayed longer.
