Cheap Hotels in Santiago de Compostela

Santiago de Compostela is Spain’s holiest city – the final destination of the pilgrimage walk, Camino de Santiago. Located in the northwest corner of Spain, in the region of Galicia, the city is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and boasts a beautiful historic center and a university founded in the 16th century. The main attraction is, however, the Cathedral and the end point for the popular Christian pilgrimage route.
The historical center of Santiago de Compostela centers on the Cathedral, a massive ground said to be the burial place of Saint James the Great, one of the 12 apostles. Tens of thousands of people come to the Cathedral each year to pay their respects, with a large fraction of them having made their way here by foot.
Most travelers choose to stay in the historic center, where most attractions and restaurants are located. Within the labyrinth of narrow cobble paths, you’ll find a wide array of hotels in this area, ranging from simple 2-star guesthouses to high-end luxury hotels. Obviously, prices are cheaper outside of the historic center, but if location is extremely important to you, then you will have to pay for it.
