Exclusivity at Viva Cala Mesquida Resort, Mallorca

Deep in the secluded luscious greenery of Cala Mesquida, it isn’t traffic I hear when I awake, but the gentle sounds of waves and the coercing murmurs of sea breeze. This is as far as one can get from bustling urban life, raucous tapas bars and skyrocketing shopping malls. I open the curtains of our deluxe apartment to a jaw-dropping sea view, and an inviting Jacuzzi right on our patio.
A sea of turquoise blue and a multitude of ragged cliffs lining the coastline, Cala Mesquida is a secluded and unspoiled corner of Mallorca that thrives under year-round sunshine and natural architecture. Secretly tucked within the craggy coastline of the bay is the Viva Cala Mesquida Resort, a lavish property poised right on the cliff’s edge.

A Touch of Luxury

On the secluded bay, there are no other resorts besides Viva Cala Mesquida and its jointly owned Club and Vanity Hotel Suites. Such exclusivity gives guests plenty of privacy and privilege. Besides emphasis on luxury, the beach resort is committed to providing top-notch facilities that cater to families and couples. The resort itself boasts over 3 swimming pools, one of them fitted with a pirate ship especially designed for children. Indulge in the world-class spa, or soak in your private Jacuzzi or hop onto the beach, just meters away from your suite. With thousands of resorts on the island, this one stands out as one of the most exclusive beach resort in Mallorca.

Personal Services

A private owned luxury resort, Viva Cala Mesquida Resort has over 280 apartment/hotel rooms, all scattered along the seafront. Despite its massive size, it doesn’t give the impersonal feeling of a standard chain hotel. The good-humored staff greet us by our first names, and we are not the only ones – they make an effort to know the guests and know their specific needs.

Mediterranean Feel

Each of its apartment/hotel rooms is  tastefully decorated with a Mediterranean touch, with comfort and practicality in mind. With separate living and sleeping areas, the apartments are spacious enough to accommodate up to a family of four. All rooms are fitted with a balcony. The resort’s latest installations are the newly refurbished rooftop rooms that have private terraces equipped with  a hot Jacuzzi tub and cozy loungers.
Our deluxe apartment overlooks the gorgeous emerald sea, cupped in a moon-shaped bay of white sparkling sand. In our grass-lined patio, we lounge around on our sundecks while jumping in for a dip in our Jacuzzi once in a while.

Exquisite Restaurants

With an all-inclusive package, guests can savor the fresh servings at the resort’s buffet restaurant for all meals. For those staying for more than 7 days, you get to enjoy a free meal at each of the resort’s three themed restaurants: An authentic Mexican restaurant that serves up outrageously flavorful BBQ ribs and fajitas; an atmospheric Italian diner dishing out exquisite seafood pastas and profiteroles by the sea; and a grill restaurant for those in search of juicy tender meat and carnivorous indulgence.

Up the Privacy Factor

During high season (June-August), the resort can get rather crowded, especially with the majority of its guests being families. For those looking for a bit more privacy can opt for its jointly-owned Vanity Hotel Suite – an adults-only resort that cater to couples or guests looking to relax. Cushy daybeds and steamy Jacuzzi tubs are placed all over the lush gardens of the property. Expect complete tranquility – no children’s cries or screaming mothers. You’re sure to thoroughly unwind and kick back.

Secluded Location

The hotel is located in the northeastern edge of the island, approximately 1 hour’s drive from Palma de Mallorca and Mallorca’s international airport. The best way to get there is to rent your own car or book an airport transfer with the hotel. A public bus takes around 1.5 hours to get to Palma De Mallorca (cost 4euros). For families, its isolated location – with not many conveniences nearby – might be a down side but to couples looking for exclusivity, it might not be an advantage after all.
