Visting Spain in Summer

madridSummer is one of the most popular times to visit Spain. In the north, days are hot and nights are warm in seaside cities like Barcelona and San Sebastian. In the south, Andalusia starts sweltering, and the masses head to sultry islands like Ibiza to cool down. While the country is beautiful all year round, it really shines during these warmer months. Costs can be higher and you’ll definitely run into more crowds from late May to early September, but the wonderful weather and long, sunny days are worth it.
It’s not too late to find cheap tickets to Spain for these months, especially if your dates are flexible. You can even swing by and schedule a layover in Spain for a few days on your way to South Africa for the World Cup. There are lots of World Cup deals still available, including airfare to South Africa. If you’re a football (soccer) fan but can’t make it down for the World Cup, you can still root for  Spain from the homeland. Pick up a Spain World Cup jersey and head to any bar in Madrid and you’ll be welcomed with open arms.
